JEOL Spiral-TOF: Patented ion optics with the highest mass resolution available in the world

With the new Spiral TOF, JEOL offers a MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer that stands out with its extra-long spiral flight path of 17 m. In the spiral TOF the ions circulate up to 8 times in the device.

The patented spiral design allows flight distances of around 17 m in which the ions circulate up to 8 times in the unit. This allows for resolutions of up to 80,000 (FWHM) over a very large mass area.

An ion transmission approaching 100% is achieved with continuous high-resolution and a mass accuracy of < 2ppm. In addition, the new spiral TOF is also MS/MS capable.
